Lutyens and the Great War -Warminster Festival
Tue 24th.Oct.2017
Adults 6

Tim Skelton, co-author of a book about the Chief Architect, gives an illustrated talk at the Athenaeum about the important aspect of Lutyens’ career and examines his role as well as that of the Imperial War Graves Commission.

2017 marks the centenary of the founding of the Imperial (now Commonwealth) War Graves Commission. Sir Edward Lutyens is celebrated for his design work for wealthy clients, yet much his work in connection with World War I remains unknown.
As Chief Architect for the Imperial War Graves Commission, Lutyens’ work set the standard for the much-admired British and Commonwealth war cemeteries.
