Man on Wire is an exciting documentary about Philippe Petit who, thanks to his friends, managed to sneak into the World Trade Center in 1974 and do a high-wire act between the Twin Towers. From the very start of the film it pulls you in, this is an amazing story and Petit is an amazing person to document. The interviews with him and his friends and "team" who helped pull off the stunt are extremely interesting and great to watch. It's filled with suspense and thrills, as you wonder if they will pull it off. (2008 - 1 1/2 hours)

INTRODUCTION TO BUDDHISM - SPRING COURSE 2009
An informal look at the basic principles and practice of Buddhist teachings: the precious human birth, impermanence, the principle of cause and effect, the inevitability of difficulties in life and the value of meditation to 'uncover' our natural goodness and insight.

We look at the life of the historical Buddha, and how his forty years of teachings in India in the 5th century BC are increasingly the source of modern mainstream thinking, especially in counselling and psychotherapy.

Suggested donation for the course; £40 (£28 concessions) All proceeds to the education of Tibetan children.

The Oscar nominated black and white animated film is a poignant coming-of-age story of a precocious and outspoken young Iranian girl that begins during the Islamic Revolution.In 1970s Iran, Marjane 'Marji' Statrapi watches events through her young eyes and her idealistic family of a long dream being fulfilled of the hated Shah's defeat in the Iranian Revolution of 1979. However as Marji grows up, she witnesses first hand how the new Iran, now ruled by Islamic fundamentalists, has become a repressive tyranny on its own. With Marji dangerously refusing to remain silent at this injustice, her parents send her abroad to Vienna to study for a better life. However, this change proves an equally difficult trial with the young woman Even when she returns home, Marji finds that both she and homeland have changed too much.
