Abanazar, an evil magician, has discovered the secret to becoming Master of the Universe.  All he needs is an enchanted oil lamp hidden away for many years in a lost cave but only the ‘chosen one’ is allowed to set foot inside.  Meanwhile, Aladdin dreams of marrying the beautiful Princess Jasmine but a penniless laundry boy could never hope to have the love of a royal. Could he be the chosen one?

2024 marks the 30th Anniversary of the release of one of Pink Floyd’s groundbreaking albums, The Division Bell, which went on to sell more than an estimated 10 million copies worldwide. Beatles Complete present a night of Beatlemania packed with massive hits from the most influential band of all time.

Follow Sherlock Holmes and his incomparable sidekick Dr John Watson on this riveting, until now, unpublished case… Damsel in distress, Lucy Matravers engages Arthur Conan Doyle’s famous sleuth, Holmes and his partner Watson to resolve a dispute over a family will. Little do they know that this small case brings Holmes straight into the clutches of his arch enemy, James Moriarty!

ABOUT THE SHOW:

In 19th century France, Jean Valjean is released from years of unjust imprisonment, but finds nothing in store for him but mistrust and mistreatment. He breaks his parole in hopes of starting a new life, initiating a life-long struggle for redemption as he is relentlessly pursued by police inspector Javert, who refuses to believe Valjean can change his ways. Finally, during the Paris student uprising of 1832, Javert must confront his ideals after Valjean spares his life and saves that of the student revolutionary who has captured the heart of Valjean’s adopted daughter.

Psychic’ performances are everywhere these days – with people who claim the ability to communicate with the dead performing in everywhere from theatres, to home visits, and on television. What, however, for those who are interested in the idea of these ‘psychic’ shows, but are sceptics? Or would like to see how much ‘psychic’ phenomena can easily be faked?

That is why magician, escapologist and comedy performer Greg Chapman created his ‘The Non-Psychic ‘Psychic’ Show’ and he is very excited to bring the show to the Athenaeum, using the full range of magic, escapology, mentalism and other performance skills, he takes the audience through a ninety-minute exploration of sometimes or often fraudulent mediums, from the Victorian Seances to some techniques used by a number of modern ‘psychics’, but all clearly presented as trickery – and without any attempt or illusion of talking to people’s “dead relatives”.

This show is fun and thought-provoking. Although the show takes no stand on whether it is actually possible to communicate with the dead – many self-professed psychics have told Greg how much they enjoy the show, and how it can only help genuine psychics for people to be aware of the possibility of sometimes or often fraudulent techniques. The show focus on some of the ways that the appearance of such communications can be made through trickery, in a way that is entertaining, interesting, and at times downright funny!
