This Oscar nominated film tells the story of a young teacher in modern Bhutan who shirks his duties as he plans to move to Australia to become a singer. As a reprimand, his superiors send him to the most remote school in the world in the village of Lunana. Exiled from the modern world, he finds a school with no resources and a yak who shares the classroom. Despite their hard life, the children show amazing spirit which transforms the teacher’s life.
